For 31 years now, Brian Kappel has found the easiest way to communicate was through art. Be it sketching, or creating monsters out of toilet paper rolls, his mind was always working. Raised in upstate New York, in the small town of Trumansburg, Brian studied the lessons of art and life, learning that at times, one can be a lot easier than the other.

Brian graduated with a BFA in Visual Arts from Penn State University. Soon there after, saved the day, beat the bad guy, and got the girl, just like in his favorite comics. Truth be told, he only got the girl, but couldn’t be happier. He makes his home in Portland, Oregon; with his wife, 2 kids, 1 dog, and garage full of potential projects.

Space Monkey Designs represents the home of all of Brian’s freelance endeavors.  From small companies just starting out to Fortune 500 companies, Brian brings the same level of “design persistence” to each project. From logos and identities, to graphic tees, to hand drawn illustrations, Brian is open to all challenges.

Through Space Monkey, Brian works with the local elementary school’s art literature program in an attempt to try and excite the next generation of artists, the way his teachers sparked the fire and set him on the path that he is on today.
